5. Temperature Determines Kinetic Energy:



The average kinetic energy of gas particles depends on the temperature of the gas. The equation for kinetic energy is:
Ek = ½ m v 2
The hotter the sample of gas becomes, the greater the average kinetic energy will be. Hotter gases move faster!
