2. Gases Have Low Density:



Compared with liquids & solids, gases have a very low density. So low, it's often expressed in units of g/L (instead of g/mL). Gas molecules are so small, the volume of the individual molecules can almost be ignored when compared to the total volume of the gas. In other words, whereas particles in solids and liquids are in contact with each other, gases are mostly empty space! (see diagram)
